How To Create Your Own Memorial Website

Memorial websites are warm “virtual memorials” that friends and family can visit and essentially embrace the memory of the loved one that passed. When visitors come to the website, they can remember what a great person he/she was, and they can even relive memories and socialize with other friends/family about what a wonderful person they were.

To begin creating your own website, you will need to begin gathering information, important dates/events of the person’s life, and other significant data that you will want to include on the site. To involve as much content as possible on the website, be sure to notify friends and family of the deceased that you’ll be creating this type of website very soon. They’ll probably be eager to pitch anything helpful in that they can such as photos, stories, and so on. You’ll want to also take not on the memorial website of this person’s achievements and values as well. If you aren’t sure about how you’ll write about this person, watch or read a biography on someone that you know of. This will give you some ideas and pave the way for your content.

Once you’re ready to build the site, you’ll need to decide whether you’ll use your own domain name with your own server, or if you’ll host the site on a subdomain. You will also want to decide how many pages will be included on your site. For example, you could include a page for photos, a page for stories, a page the guestbook, and so on.

Your next step is to actually build the site using images and HTML. For someone who is familiar with web development, this will probably come as an easy task, but for someone who doesn’t know anything about it, this could be difficult. First, ask around to friends and family for someone who is knowledgeable with building websites. If you cannot find anyone, it would be a good idea to hire a designer. Give him/her all of the information you gathered and tell them exactly how you would like it arranged.

Additionally, don’t forget to add your donations button if you’re accepting them for a certain cause or charity in respect of your deceased loved one. Many charities and organizations provide these, but if none are given, a simple mailing address will work fine.

After your memorial website is live, spread it to all of your friends and family so that they can experience it as well. Memorial websites are great for helping friends and family reconnect somewhat with their deceased loved ones!
